About The Event
Soprano Katherine Whyte, originally from the greater Hamilton area, returns for a special homecoming performance after captivating audiences on some of the world's most prestigious stages, including the Metropolitan Opera. Known for her emotional depth and vocal mastery, Whyte has taken on leading roles in operas such as Le Nozze di Figaro and Così fan tutte. A passionate advocate for contemporary opera, she has premiered new works and is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of singers.
Joining her is acclaimed pianist, vocal coach, and educator Liz Upchurch. Upchurch has celebrated her 27th season as the Music Director of the Ensemble Studio at the Canadian Opera Company. In 2019 she was awarded the prestigious Ruby Mercer Award for her exemplary contribution to the operatic industry.
