A loving tribute to his mother, acclaimed Canadian actor Shawn Wright takes the stage with a virtuosic solo performance of his one-man show.
Ghost Light tells the hilarious and heartwarming story of Shawn’s relationship with his late mother, and how she inspired his passion for theatre and his love of life. With a 30-year career, Shawn credits his passion for the stage to his mother.
Ghost Light is his first play.

About SHAWN WRIGHT
Shawn Wright has appeared in 15 productions at the Stratford Festival and 13 productions at the Shaw Festival. He won the Dora Award for “London Road” at Canadian Stage, where he also played (with Dan Chameroy) the title roles in “The Arsonists” directed by Morris Panych. On the musical stage, he has played many of the great leading men of Rodgers and Hammerstein, Kander & Ebb, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Stephen Sondheim. More recently he was in the original Canadian casts of “Caroline or Change”, “Light in the Piazza”, “Jersey Boys” “Lord of the Rings” and “Next To Normal”. He made his Pacific Opera debut in “The Mikado”. On television he played such roles as Detective Cooper on “Due South” and Andrew Trevor, the murderer of the week, on “Murdoch Mysteries.” He was in the cast of the American premiere of Mamma Mia in Los Angeles and was in the original Broadway workshop cast of “Ragtime”, working alongside Joel Grey. His voice can be heard on the cast album recordings of “Napoleon”. “Crazy For You” and “Billy The Kid”. In 2019 he was Writer-In-Residence at the Charlottetown Festival where also played Matthew Cuthbert there in “Anne of Green Gables”. He is currently appearing 8 times a week as Lord Voldemort in “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” in Toronto.
